The role
The China Energy Service Engineering team manages the full lifecycle of commissioning, field service, and technical support for Tesla's energy storage and charging product. We drive rapid deployment, maintain operational excellence, and ensure the highest quality standards across the APAC and China region. This Technical Program Manager will own energy service programs from concept through production and regional launch, coordinating across cross-functional teams, vendors, and manufacturing sites to deliver on schedule, on budget, and at quality. The role serves as the critical link between Tesla's HQ/China engineering organization and APAC/China regional service teams, ensuring seamless alignment on new product introductions, spare parts strategy, and ongoing technical support. This position is based in Shanghai, China, with periodic travel to vendor sites and Tesla manufacturing facilities as needed.
Responsibilities
• Lead end-to-end service program management for new product launches, including service readiness planning, regional technical coordination, and post-launch support across the APAC region
• Define and maintain service program roadmaps, milestones, and success metrics across multiple concurrent workstreams
• Coordinate with factory, supply chain, engineering, and regional service teams to ensure high-quality service deliverables, including technical documentation, training materials, and spare parts strategy
• Serve as the primary point of contact for cross-functional alignment between Tesla HQ and regional stakeholders, driving clarity on priorities, dependencies, and escalation paths
• Identify operational bottlenecks and drive process improvements to support regional service excellence and scalability
• Build and maintain tooling or scripts to automate program tracking, reporting, and workflow coordination
• Conduct or coordinate on-site reviews at vendor and manufacturing facilities to validate quality, readiness, and compliance with Tesla standards
• Gather and consolidate technical requirements from regional teams — including firmware, software, diagnostic tooling, and field service enablement needs — and drive prioritization and on-time delivery by coordinating with local engineering and HQ development teams
Role Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• 3+ years of technical program management or operations management experience, preferably in energy, manufacturing, or a high-growth technology environment
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously under aggressive timelines and rapidly shifting priorities
• Strong vendor and supplier coordination skills, with experience driving quick-turnaround deliverables on tight deadlines
• Excellent communication, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills; ability to build productive relationships with stakeholders across functions and geographies
• Comfortable working with evolving design specifications and high-ambiguity environments
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a bias toward action
• Proficiency in English
Preferred Skills
• Hands-on understanding of mechanical and/or electrical design fundamentals
• Experience supporting product launches across multiple international regions
• Familiarity with cost analysis, BOM management, or service cost modeling
• Previous work in solar, energy storage, electric vehicle, or EV charging industries
• Experience with project management tools and basic scripting or data automation capabilities
