The Opportunity
The Financial Services Quality Enablement (QEL) is responsible for leading the maintenance and enhancement of quality in the assurance practice. This is achieved by keeping the firm up to date on assurance and audit matters, both external regulatory issues and internal developments, by developing and communicating relevant guidance and policies. This QEL (Senior) Manager will play a vital role in supporting the practice in achieving its quality and risk management ambitions, against the backdrop of an ever-changing FS market place and regulatory environment. This is an exciting opportunity to improve audit quality across the Hong Kong financial services practice.
The Financial Services Quality Enablement (QEL) team is responsible for driving and enhancing audit quality across the Financial Services practice. The team supports engagement teams through quality initiatives, methodology implementation, and the development of guidance, tools, coaching and training. QEL also monitors regulatory developments, inspection findings, and firm-wide quality priorities to help ensure compliance with professional standards and risk management requirements. This QEL (Senior) Manager will play a key role in supporting the practice's quality and risk management objectives, helping engagement teams navigate an evolving regulatory landscape while promoting a culture of continuous improvement. We are looking for a proactive and pragmatic individual who is passionate and can support the practice as well as develop initiatives and implement them into the practice.
Responsibilities, Qualifications, Certifications
Your key responsibilities
Deliver audit quality coaching, training, and awareness sessions to enhance engagement teams’ understanding of methodology and regulatory expectations.
Develop, maintain, and update financial services audit enablers, tools, templates, and guidance to reflect changes in methodology, professional standards, regulatory requirements, and inspection findings.
Support the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the firm’s ISQM framework and related quality management initiatives.
Lead or support audit quality and risk management projects on an ad hoc basis, including quality monitoring activities, root cause analysis, remediation initiatives, regulatory inspection support, and the coordination of the firm’s annual audit quality review process.
Skills and experience
HKICPA (or equivalent)
Excellent communication skills in Chinese and English
A reasonable knowledge of current assurance quality and risk management issues and understanding of recent accounting developments
Experience of managing and delivering Assurance engagements
Strong organisational and project management skills, including the ability to plan ahead and manage your time
To qualify for the role you must have
A good knowledge of IFRS/HKFRS and auditing standards (ISA/HKSA)
Experience in a similar role or recent experience of auditing of financial services industries (preferable with banking / insurance background)
Good organisational, project management and time management skills with a strong focus on delivering results including an ability to plan ahead and anticipate problems
