岗位描述
The Role
As a Charging System Developer & Validation Intern on the Charging System Team, you will help deliver robust, high-quality charging experiences across Tesla vehicles. The charging system covers Charge Port (CP) and Power Conversion System (PCS). You will contribute to both firmware development and validation—including control logic,, protocol interoperability, diagnostics, and related vehicle interfaces. You will design and implement firmware features, validation procedures, test equipment, and automation that improve reliability, safety, and customer experience. Working closely with integration teams, you will build innovative automated test systems, analyze lab and field data, and help validate hardware and firmware performance. You will also support the roadmap for future charging technologies, including new products, regional standards, and next-generation charging features.
Responsibilities
• Work with cross-functional teams to define requirements and design new firmware features, diagnostics, and control logic
• Design, implement, and unit-test embedded firmware (e.g., AC/DC converter control, protocol handling)
• Bring up, debug, and integrate firmware on target hardware using lab tools (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, CAN tools)
• Investigate and resolve firmware issues from bench bring-up, vehicle testing, and field feedback
• Develop and maintain SIL/HIL validation infrastructure with reusable, object-oriented components
• Design and automate validation procedures covering functional, fault, and interoperability scenarios (AC/DC and regional standards)
• Build rapid at-desk test frameworks and behavior models with fault-injection capability
• Analyze session logs, alerts, and field data to drive firmware fixes and expand validation coverage
Requirements
Must Have
• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or proof of exceptional skills in related fields with practical software engineering experience
• Expertise testing devices and debugging hardware (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, DMM)
• Desire to participate in firmware development, improving code robustness, and designing/executing validation infrastructure
• Ability to think creatively and produce “outside of the box” solutions
• Proficiency in C and C++
• Scripting skills in at least one common language (Python, Java, SQL, Shell)
Prefer to Have
• CANalyzer / CANape experience
• Experience with EV charging protocols
• Experience with HIL/SIL setups or automated test frameworks
• Background with embedded designs, or schematic capture (Altium)
Others
• Start Date: October 2026
• Duration: Minimum 4 months, 5 days/week on-site (6+ months preferred)
• Graduation: Class of 2027
• Conversion Opportunity: Full-time conversion available for high performers who pass the interview process
