Main Purpose of Job:
Recognised specialist in a major field of confectionery Engineering critical to Nestle, eg. Biscuits, wafer, Sachima and chocolate product manufacture.
The R&D ‘Ambassadors’ for Confectionery Process Engineering: co-ordinating, leading and providing knowledge, technical solutions, project management, coaching & competency development, technical advice and support.
Support confectionery CAPEX >1Mio CHF (link to factories & engineering teams, Zone and Market technical management, Corporate functions (CO-ENG, CT-PTD).
Deliver the confectionery OMP through successful deployment and development of innovative process improvements (Vanguard) with key suppliers.
Participate in Category Machinery Standards development (inline within APOLLO initiative).
Lead the Engineering component in I2L project teams.
Process innovation to enhance and enable the development of new products with safety, quality and environmental / sustainable responsibility.

Generate engineering solutions that deliver added value for consumer and customer.
Drive NHW and Sustainability initiatives via engineering design on capacity expansion projects.
I&R PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE:
Provide recommendations and guidance to SBU, Zone, Markets and R&D senior management to ensure maximum business benefit from Capital Expenditure.
Development of engineering elements of product I&R roadmaps and alignment of project portfolio.
Advise on project requirements, deliverables and resources to ensure smooth start up of lines and factories.
Co-ordinate the effective development of new technologies or equipment improvement and drive their implementation into Operations.
PEOPLE AND KNOW HOW:
Category leading understanding of mechanical, design and automation Engineering plus quality, regulatory and SHE / MRAS knowledge. Develop relevant tools and competencies in the domain of activity. Proactively contribute in knowledge transfer and dissemination between different sites (R&D, Org. Units), e.g. by participating in Expert Networks (e.g. modelling / hygienic engineering). Guide, coach, advise and mentor more junior project team members.
KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT:
Be recognised as expert internally and externally in a major field of confectionery process engineering critical to Nestle
Map knowledge, identify gaps and implement sustainable programs for knowledge management across confectionery (training, coaching, succession, best practice, standards)
Contribute to Zone expert network for confectionery process engineering
OPERATIONS EXCELLENCE:
Establish and maintain close relationships to factories, markets and the business to allow collection and sharing of engineering best practice guidance and solutions
Use existing network of contacts and competent people to foster knowledge sharing and help disseminate technical knowledge / solutions across markets and across categories.
Key Experiences:
- Degree level in the related engineering (preferable mechanical, electrical/electronic, chemical) fields
- More than 10 years of international experience in R&D / Operations with significant exposure to areas of the business outside of R&D
- Operations, Head office, different R&D centres, through variety of roles / missions / major projects / time spent in markets
- Understanding of operational set-up of Nestle with track record of developing/ implementing breakthrough innovation
- Has track record in Knowledge Management k.
- Has excellent communication skills and proven track record of coaching, and mentoring of less experienced members.
- Up to date knowledge of quality, safety and hygiene / environment requirements of production equipment
