YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

VACC Leadership: Act as a VACC leader. Be a role model for embracing and actively championing the DSO operating model and behaviors.

Organizational Leadership & Scaling: Lead and manage the R&D China Hub (spanning Engineering, Project Management, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, and Quality). Drive the long-term talent strategy, scale the team, and foster a culture of trust, transparency, and continuous improvement. Build a robust local talent pipeline that bridges knowledge from local to global and vice versa.

Local Ecosystem & Cost Optimization: Leverage a deep network within the Chinese R&D landscape to rigorously vet and manage a local vendor and CDMO ecosystem. Utilize local design, manufacturing, and supply chains to reduce Global COGS and execute complex supply chain collaborations (e.g., Project Speedboat, FLASH, Stellant, Arterion Facelift).

Local Scouting & BD&L: Execute advanced market landscape scouting to identify local innovation, partnership, and in-licensing opportunities (e.g., CT & MR competitive landscape, MRFD, MI) to feed into the global pipeline.

R&D Innovation & Academic Partnership: Establish, expand, and manage local partnerships for innovation and applied research for medical devices and diagnostic drugs (e.g., XenonDS, Extravasation, Primovist AI, KOL Research Collaborations).

Program Delivery, Risk Management & Compliance: Guide cross-functional project execution teams to deliver solutions within schedule and budget, ensuring strict adherence to local regulatory, quality, and GxP compliance processes for internal audits and regulatory inspections.

Product Lifecycle: Champion China's market requirements, ensuring customer feedback is seamlessly collected and integrated into Global Product Teams from ideation through development.

Financial & Resource Management: Operate within the financial framework, optimizing local R&D spend and partnering within the team to allocate resources effectively.

WHO YOU ARE

Education: Advanced university degree in Life Sciences and/or Engineering

Experience: At least 10 years of relevant professional experience in the pharmaceuticals or MedTech industry, of which at least 5 years must be in R&D. Deep R&D knowledge and expertise in medical devices is strictly required.

Local Domain Acumen: Deep, proven expertise in the China Industry R&D landscape, including strong existing networks with local CDMOs, CROs, and regulatory bodies.

Domain & Business Acumen: Thorough understanding of the development process for medical devices, digital/software, and drugs (contrast media and molecular imaging), as well as the Bayer Radiology business and the industry in which it operates. Strong business, financial, and supply chain acumen.

Leadership & Execution: Strong leadership skills with the ability to steer a high-performing team and set a relentless focus on execution and target achievement. Extensive experience in managing complex projects across cultures and geographies. Along with a proven track record of creating and sustaining collaborative relationships with local and global teams.

Negotiation & Influence: Effective negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders at the most senior levels.

Relationship Management: Expertise in building and maintaining high-value, long-term partnerships (CDMOs, KOLs) and establishing effective relationships with key stakeholders across functions throughout the organization.

Executive Presence: Confident and credible when representing Bayer in global forums, the CLT, the R&D LT, and with key external partners.

Interpersonal Skills: Engaging communication skills with a proven ability to work within and lead cross-functional matrix teams.

Language: Fluent proficiency in Chinese and English language are mandatory.
