ERCP Nurse

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Patient Care Delivery

1.1 Cooperate with physicians to ensure safe and efficient turnover of daily elective and emergency endoscopy cases in the assigned room / procedures.

1.2 Cooperate with physician in Endo interventional radiation therapy including Fluoroscopy, ERCP, ERCP+EST, ERCP+ECT, ENBD, EUS, etc.

1.3 Collaborate with physicians and other health care providers in the smooth delivery of patient care.

1.4 Monitor patient’s response and symptoms during Endo procedures, and ensure safe patient care is rendered and proper evidence-based endoscopy practices are maintained according to set standards.

1.5 Provide patients and their families with health education before and after procedure based on assessed needs and readiness to learn.

1.6 Document nursing care rendered to the patient accurately in a concise manner.

2. Quality & Safety

2.1 Participate in Quality and Safety related activities including quality audits, infection control, hand hygiene audits and evaluating the effectiveness of care given in the unit.

2.2 Implement and reevaluate established operational and nursing policies and procedures.

2.3 Actively advocate for patients and families to maximize their participation in decision-making and goal setting.

2.4 Advocate for patient safety and promotes the culture of no blame in the event of near misses events or safety incidents.

3. Teaching & Learning

3.1 Updates competency checklists related to own specialty for any practice changes.

3.2 Participate in interdisciplinary forums that promote an integrated approach to patient care.

3.3 Demonstrate interest in improving and upgrading nursing knowledge and skills by attending in-service lectures, seminars and workshops.

4. Professional Development

4.1 Serves as role model for personal professional development, particularly in self-directed learning.

4.2 Identifies own learning needs and develop a plan to fulfill them.

4.3 Complete required learning annually.

5. Leadership & Management

5.1 Promote the development of collaborative relationships with colleagues by communicating in a constructive manner when providing feedback for improvement.

5.2 Promote teamwork and team spirit through supportive and non-judgmental behaviors within the unit.

EXPERIENCES, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

§ Extensive Endoscopy practice experience.

§ Minimum 3 years of ERCP practice experience with valid radiation license.

§ Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, HIS.

§ Keen on sharing, coaching and guiding others.

§ Good interpersonal and leadership skills.
