Role Overview
HashKey is establishing a dedicated Standalone Lending Business to provide secured financing and liquidity solutions to institutional clients, corporates, and High-Net-Worth Individuals (HNWIs) in the Web3 space.
We are seeking an aggressive, commercially driven Senior Manager to drive this new venture from 0 to 1. In this highly hands-on role, you will be the primary revenue generator, owning strict business KPIs for our secured loan book. You will actively source borrowers and capital providers. Crucially, you will also formally serve as the Director for our Hong Kong Money Lenders Licence, ensuring our lending operations strictly adhere to local regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
Deal Origination (Borrowers): Proactively identify, pitch, and onboard institutional borrowers, VIPs, and family offices requiring fiat liquidity through secured lending (e.g., crypto-collateralised fiat loans).
Capital Sourcing (Funding Partners): Build and maintain relationships with capital providers to secure funding lines and expand our lending capacity.
Drive Revenue: Take ownership of aggressive lending targets, including loan origination volume, Net Interest Margin (NIM), and overall portfolio profitability.
Deal Execution: Manage standard secured lending transactions from initial pitch to closing, ensuring terms are clear, competitive, and well-collateralised.
Collateral & LTV Management (Core Operations)
LTV Setup & Operations: Define, set, and actively manage Loan-to-Value (LTV) parameters for different types of collaterals. Ensure LTV limits are strictly monitored and enforced.
Collateral Assessment: Conduct thorough evaluations of pledged assets (especially virtual assets), understanding their liquidity, volatility, and liquidation mechanics.
Portfolio Monitoring & Margin Calls: Monitor the ongoing health of the secured loan book. Trigger and execute margin calls or liquidation processes swiftly when collateral values drop below maintenance LTV thresholds.
0-to-1 Operational Buildout: Hands-on setup of the lending operational workflows, including loan application processes, legal documentation, and fund disbursement mechanics.
Regulatory Licensing & MLO Compliance
Licensing Director: Serve as the formal Director / Approved Person for the Hong Kong Money Lenders Licence under the Hong Kong Money Lenders Ordinance (Cap. 163).
Regulatory Liaison: Manage regulatory communications and annual renewals with the Companies Registry and Police Licensing Office.
Compliance Execution: Ensure all day-to-day lending operations, marketing practices, and KYC/AML procedures strictly comply with the MLO and HashKey's internal compliance standards.
Qualifications
Required
Must Have Money Lender Experience: Direct, hands-on experience working within a licensed Money Lender in Hong Kong in a business development, credit, or origination capacity.
Deep Expertise in Secured Loans & LTV: Strong practical understanding of Loan-to-Value (LTV) mechanics—knowing how to set parameters, calculate risks, and operate margin calls/liquidations effectively.
Collateral Management: Solid experience in assessing and managing collaterals for secured lending facilities.
Proven BD Track Record: Demonstrated success in hitting revenue/origination KPIs in the corporate lending or private credit space.
Strong Network: An actionable network of potential borrowers and/or capital providers in the APAC region.
Licensing Eligibility: Must meet the "Fit and Proper" criteria to be appointed as a Director for a Hong Kong Money Lenders Licence (a clean personal and financial background is mandatory).
Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
Preferred
Web3/Crypto Exposure: Understanding of virtual assets, their liquidity profiles, and the specific dynamics of using crypto as collateral for fiat loans.
Previous Director Status: Candidates who have previously acted as the Director/Responsible Person for a HK Money Lenders Licence will be highly regarded.
